Eligibility for Minnesota Public Programs

Federal Health Care Options:

The 2010 Affordable Care Act has expanded your options for health insurance coverage.  If you have been uninsured for at least six months and have a health condition, you may be able to get health insurance through the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP).

PCIP covers major-medical and prescription drug expenses. You're responsible for paying premium, deductible, copayments, and coinsurance amounts. PCIP won't cost you more just because of your medical condition. PCIP isn't based on income eligibility like Medicaid.

To qualify you must be a citizen or national of the United States or lawfully present in the United States. Go to www.healthcare.gov/law/provisions/preexisting/states/mn.html to learn more about how PCIP works in Minnesota.
